Boabat Alnoor (BN) executed the comprehensive electrical and instrumentation hook-up works for ESP (Electrical Submersible Pump) surface facilities across the Rumaila Oil Field for Rumaila Operating Organisation (ROO). The project focused on delivering safe and reliable power and instrumentation integration directly at the wellheads, facilitating full testing, pre-commissioning, and seamless start-up.

Scope

The contract delivered complete electrical, control, and instrumentation hook-up packages across operating ESP sites, covering:

  • Electrical and instrumentation hook-up for ESP wellheads, flow tanks, and fuel storage infrastructure.
  • Rigging, mechanical positioning, and integration of transformers and Variable Speed Drive (VSD) skids.
  • Supply, fabrication, and installation of cable containment systems, supports, trays, and ladders.
  • Laying, dressing, glanding, and certified termination of HV/LV power, control, and instrumentation cables.
  • Installation and signal loop checks for field instrumentation, junction boxes, and marshalling enclosures.
  • Installation of dedicated wellhead earthing grids and cathodic protection systems.
  • Integrated electrical testing, loop testing, and active technical support during commissioning and live start-up.

The project scope encompassed field-wide installations supporting continuous artificial lift operations:

  • Wellhead & Facility Hook-Up: Complete electrical and instrumentation integration for ESP wellhead heads and associated surface flow tanks.
  • Power & Drives: Transformer installation, VSD skid positioning, power interconnects, and control integration.
  • Cable Infrastructure: HV and LV power distribution cabling, alongside multi-core control and instrument cabling networks.
  • Containment & Terminations: Heavy-duty cable tray/conduit routes, hazardous-area cable glanding, end terminations, and continuity tagging.
  • Protection & Grounding: Site earthing grids, structural bonding, and cathodic protection interface works.
  • Commissioning Support: Megger and continuity testing, instrument loop checks, and technical vendor support through first oil start-up.

How it is delivered

All hook-up activities were executed within live, hazardous well pad environments in compliance with strict ROO safety guidelines and permit-to-work protocols. Dedicated mobile crews managed concurrent pad installations to align with drilling and ESP workover completions.

Rigorous pre-commissioning verification—including torque checks, insulation resistance verification, and loop-testing of safety critical instruments—ensured zero-incident handovers and high operational availability across all hooked-up wells.
