ELECTRICAL PROJECT PROFILE
Power Management System (PMS) Integration
BN executed the project for the supply and installation of a Power Management System (PMS) to integrate the Gas Turbine Generators (GTGs) with the PPG grid power source at the H&Z IPF Plants in Zubair Oil Field. The project objective is to provide coordinated synchronization and load sharing between the plant generators and the external grid, supporting stable, controlled and reliable operation of the plant electrical network.
The installed Solar Turbines PMS is a programmable-controller-based power management platform that supervises the connected generator sets and the utility tie. According to the project operation manual, the PMS controls real and reactive power flow across the utility connection, supervises generator kW, kVAR and power-factor setpoints, provides synchronization functions, and gives operators centralized monitoring, alarm and operational control through the PMS console and TT4000 interface.
The PMS provides the control functions required to coordinate multiple GTGs with the utility/grid connection. The project manual identifies the following principal capabilities:
The PMS console provides operators with a centralized interface for supervision and control. The TT4000 screens include unit summaries, one-line diagrams, import-control functions, AutoSync functions, alarm and event logs, maintenance tools and historical monitoring. These interfaces allow plant personnel to view generator and grid conditions and manage synchronization and power-flow control from a single platform.
The integration of the PMS establishes a coordinated control layer between the GTGs and the PPG grid source, enabling controlled synchronization and load sharing while improving visibility of plant electrical operating conditions. By coordinating generator loading, grid import, reactive power and power factor, the system supports stable operation of the H&Z IPF electrical network across grid-connected and island operating scenarios.
BN executed the supply, installation and integration of a Power Management System (PMS) for the H&Z IPF Plants at Zubair Oil Field, enabling synchronization and coordinated load sharing between the Solar Turbines Gas Turbine Generators (GTGs) and the PPG grid power source. The PMS provides centralized supervision of generator and utility operation, automatic synchronization, real and reactive power management, power-factor control, and generator load sharing through an integrated Turbotronic operator interface. The solution strengthens plant power-system coordination and supports stable operation in both grid-connected and island operating conditions.
