EPC Electrical Integration for HIPF Plant

EPC electrical integration works for the HIPF Plant at Zubair Oil Field, establishing a new high-capacity power connection and dedicated 33/11 kV substation to strengthen the plant electrical infrastructure. The project combined a new 33 kV overhead transmission line, a 31.5 MVA power transformer, a fully equipped Local Electrical Room (LER), and associated protection, control, auxiliary and cable systems into one integrated power distribution solution.

Project Overview

BN executed the EPC electrical integration works for the HIPF Plant at Zubair Oil Field, establishing a new high-capacity power connection and dedicated 33/11 kV substation to strengthen the plant electrical infrastructure. The project combined a new 33 kV overhead transmission line, a 31.5 MVA power transformer, a fully equipped Local Electrical Room (LER), and associated protection, control, auxiliary and cable systems into one integrated power distribution solution.

Scope of Work

  • Engineering, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning of approximately 6 km of 33 kV overhead transmission line (OHTL).
  • Supply and installation of a new 33/11 kV substation for HIPF power integration.
  • Supply, transportation, positioning and installation of a prefabricated Local Electrical Room (LER).
  • Integration of 33 kV and 11 kV switchgear within the LER, together with protection, control and metering functions.
  • Installation of one 33/11 kV, 31.5 MVA power transformer and associated auxiliaries.
  • Provision of LER auxiliary systems including HVAC, firefighting, fire alarm, lighting, DC/control power and related services.
  • Supply and installation of required MV power cables, control cables, terminations, earthing and bonding connections.

Electrical Integration Solution

The project created a dedicated power interface between the 33 kV network and the HIPF plant distribution system. The new 33 kV overhead line delivers power to the 33/11 kV substation, where the 31.5 MVA transformer steps the voltage down to 11 kV for distribution through the new switchgear lineup. The LER provides a controlled indoor environment for the switchgear, protection and control equipment, while the integrated auxiliary systems support safe and reliable operation under oil-field conditions.

Project Value

This EPC project demonstrates BN’s capability to deliver complete electrical infrastructure packages from high-voltage transmission through transformation, switching, protection, control and final plant integration. By combining the 33 kV OHTL, 33/11 kV substation, 31.5 MVA transformer and prefabricated LER, the project provides a robust and maintainable power supply architecture suitable for continuous oil and gas production facilities.
