Project Overview
BN executed the EPC works for the installation of an integrated 0.4 kV Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) system at the ZFOD Headquarters (Burj Al-Zubair). The project was developed to provide a reliable and automated interface between the utility grid and standby diesel generation, improving power continuity for the headquarters and supporting uninterrupted operation of critical electrical loads. The solution combines automatic source transfer, generator synchronization, and load-sharing functionality within a dedicated containerized electrical room, providing a compact and maintainable power-management arrangement.
Scope of Work
- • Engineering and detailed design of the 0.4 kV integrated ATS and associated power distribution interfaces.
- • Supply and installation of two 0.4 kV ATS panels housed inside a dedicated electrical container.
- • Configuration of the ATS system to provide automatic transfer, synchronization, and load sharing between the utility grid and diesel generators.
- • Installation of four diesel generators, each with a rating of 630 MW as specified in the project scope, with two generators connected to each ATS system.
- • Supply and installation of all required 0.4 kV power cables, control/interconnection cables, terminations, and accessories.
- • Supply and installation of galvanized cable trays and supports for organized and protected cable routing.
- • Integration of the ATS panels with the grid incomers, diesel generator feeders, and outgoing loads.
- • Testing, functional verification, synchronization checks, automatic transfer sequence checks, and commissioning of the complete system.
